19th century two large (approximately 47 cm in length) muzzle loading good quality flintlocks. Very good working condition with hexagonal barrels.

These are French made by Alexandre Laport who was born in Liege in 1782. His birth city formed part of France until 1815 when Napoleon was ultimately defeated and when the Congress of Vienna awarded it to the United Kingdom of the Netherlands. This may have played a part in his decision to leave and in 1818 he left for Brazil with an aim of trading there and to install the arsenal of Rio de Janeiro.

These are a pair of pistols that he produced at this time for well to do gentlemen of the period. Very good quality.
